On a Tuesday night in Gonzales, Louisiana, the life of 22-year-old Jonathan King was cut short by a single gunshot. The shooting occurred around 11 p.m. on November 18, 2025, on West Tony Street. When Gonzales Police officers arrived at the scene, they found King with a gunshot wound to his upper torso. Despite their efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man authorities say is responsible for King's death, 24-year-old Darius Mosby, allegedly fled
the area immediately after the shooting. A collaborative effort between the Gonzales Police Department, the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office, and the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office led to Mosby's apprehension. Acting on information from the 911 Communications Center, law enforcement located Mosby hiding in thick bushes along South Darla Avenue. At the time of his arrest, he was armed.
Following his capture, Darius Mosby was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail. He is facing multiple charges, including one count of second-degree murder, one count of illegal possession of a stolen firearm, and one count of resisting an officer by violence, resistance, or opposition. The motive for the shooting is still under investigation by the Gonzales Police Department, who have encouraged anyone with additional information to come forward.
