In the early morning hours of January 12, 2026, a verbal dispute in the parking lot of the Park Place Lounge in Gonzales, Louisiana, tragically cut short the life of 25-year-old John Anthony Wilson. The altercation, which occurred around 1 a.m., escalated quickly, ending when Wilson was shot twice in the chest. He had arrived at the West Highway 30 establishment with the man who would ultimately be accused of his murder.
Family members remember Wilson as a funny, vibrant young man who
was the life of the party and a talented dancer. Though he faced challenges, he was reportedly trying to get his life on the right track. His aunt described him as a "good kid at heart" who was well-loved and respected by many in the Ascension Parish community, touching the lives of people from all backgrounds. He would have celebrated his 26th birthday on February 6th.
The man authorities allege is responsible for Wilson's death is 23-year-old Breeze Michael Sincere. Wilson's aunt revealed that the two knew each other and had been friends, but their relationship had recently soured, with Sincere allegedly having assaulted Wilson a couple of weeks prior to the fatal shooting. Despite the previous conflict, the two had apparently reconciled and gone to the lounge together on the night of the incident. His aunt believes that her nephew chose the wrong friends and that he was ultimately set up by the people he was with that night.
Following an investigation by the Gonzales Police Department, Breeze Michael Sincere was identified as the suspect. With the assistance of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, he was located in Jefferson Parish and taken into custody without incident. Sincere was subsequently booked into the Ascension Parish Jail and charged with one count of second-degree murder. Authorities have indicated that additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation continues.
