In the early morning hours in Gonzales, Louisiana, a dispute among acquaintances turned deadly, leaving a young man's life cut tragically short. Christopher Randall Goudeau, a 23-year-old male, was at his home on Black Bayou Road on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, when an argument erupted between him and two individuals he was with. The verbal altercation escalated into a physical fight, culminating in a fatal shooting.
By the time sheriff's deputies arrived at the residence shortly after 6 a.m., Goudeau was dead, and the people responsible had fled the scene.
The investigation into the shooting quickly led authorities to identify two suspects: 24-year-old Kirpatrick Morrison and 22-year-old Lauren Donaldson. Their flight from justice was brief. Not long after the shooting, Morrison and Donaldson were involved in a traffic accident in the neighboring parish of East Baton Rouge. Deputies who responded to the crash discovered that the individuals in the wrecked vehicle were the same two sought in connection with the homicide in Gonzales.
Following their apprehension at the scene of the car crash, both Kirpatrick Morrison and Lauren Donaldson were taken into custody. They were subsequently arrested and booked on charges of first-degree murder in the death of Christopher Goudeau. Investigators determined that the three had been together at Goudeau's home when the argument that led to his death occurred. The swift arrests brought a quick, albeit somber, resolution to the initial phase of the investigation into the violent end of a young man's life.
