On June 23, 2023, Edgar Soto-Irizarry, a 30-year-old resident of Holyoke, Massachusetts, lost his life to gun violence. The incident occurred on Appleton Street in Holyoke, where Soto-Irizarry was found with gunshot wounds. Despite immediate response, he died before he could be taken to the hospital.
