Death by Force

David Atkins, an 18-year-old, was fatally shot on February 10, 2024, in the 2600 block of Washington Avenue in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Atkins had been on the run from law enforcement since his escape from the East Baton Rouge Juvenile Detention Center on November 25, 2023. This was his second escape from the facility, with the first occurring due to broken doors and security failures, and the second involving forcing open a security door and exiting via the roof.
