On a July evening in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the sound of gunfire shattered the night on Linden Street, leading to a tragic loss of life. Jermaine Jarvis, a 37-year-old male, was caught in the violence that erupted around 9:30 p.m. When police responded to the reports of a shooting, they discovered a grim scene with multiple victims.
Another man, Cody Hypolite, was found with fatal gunshot wounds and died at the scene.
Jermaine Jarvis was critically injured and rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away. A third individual, a woman, was also shot during the incident and was transported to the hospital for treatment of her injuries.
In the aftermath of the double homicide, detectives from the Baton Rouge Police Department launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the person or persons responsible. Their efforts led to the arrest of 26-year-old Dedric White. He was taken into custody and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. The charges brought against White in connection with the deadly shooting included two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder.
