In the late hours of a Thursday evening in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the life of Devanta Tremon Matthews, a 28-year-old Black/African American male, was tragically cut short. On May 18, 2023, just before 10:20 p.m., gunshots echoed through a parking garage near Louisiana State University, leaving Matthews fatally wounded.
