On June 27, 2024, at approximately 5:01 p.m., deputies from the Catawba County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a shooting at a residence in the 5000 block of Hope Road in Vale, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered 31-year-old Larry Ray Whisnant deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.
