In a quiet home on Bluewater Drive in Baton Rouge's Shenandoah subdivision, a place Sidney Deloach, an 84-year-old male, had called home since 1978, a grim scene unfolded on March 15, 2024. Responding to a call shortly before 2 p.m., deputies from the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office were met by a harrowing tale from Sidney's 63-year-old son, Brent Deloach.
He claimed an unknown intruder had entered the house, shooting him, his 30-year-old daughter Christina Deloach, and his father, Sidney.
Upon entering the residence, investigators found Christina deceased, having suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Brent, who had an abdominal gunshot wound and was armed when deputies arrived, was transported to a nearby hospital for surgery. A further search of the home led to the discovery of Sidney Deloach in his bed. He was unresponsive and had been shot multiple times in the upper torso. Evidence at the scene included several shell casings found near both victims and a handgun in the den.
The initial account of a home invasion began to unravel as investigators found no signs of forced entry. A crucial piece of evidence came from a surveillance camera at the front door. The footage showed Christina entering the house, followed moments later by an argument with her father, Brent, in the driveway before they both went back inside. The video then captured the arrival of law enforcement. This evidence led investigators to believe that Brent Deloach was the perpetrator, alleging that he shot his father and daughter before turning the gun on himself.
Following a lengthy hospital stay to recover from his self-inflicted injuries, Brent Deloach was arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison in May 2024 on two counts of first-degree murder. He was held without bond. The tragic saga took another turn in July 2024, when Brent was found unresponsive in his cell after an apparent suicide attempt by hanging. He was transported to a hospital and placed on life support, but his remaining family made the decision to remove it, and he subsequently died from his injuries.
