On the evening of February 18, 2021, a burst of gunfire shattered the familiar buzz of a Baton Rouge barbershop, leaving one man dead and three others wounded. Louis Williams, a 35-year-old male, was inside the Mitchell Tax and Barber Shop at 2045 North Foster Drive when the shooting erupted around 7:00 p.m. Tragically, Williams sustained fatal gunshot injuries and died at the scene.
The violence of that evening sent shockwaves through the community as three other individuals inside the
barbershop were also struck by bullets. Emergency services transported the trio to a local hospital in serious condition, their lives hanging in the balance. In the immediate aftermath, Baton Rouge Police Homicide Detectives descended upon the scene, beginning an investigation into the deadly incident. Initially, both the motive for the shooting and the identity of any suspects remained unknown to the public.
Less than a month later, on March 11, 2021, an arrest was made in connection with the fatal shooting. The Baton Rouge Police Department announced that 25-year-old Brandon Turner had been taken into custody. Turner was accused of being responsible for the death of Louis Williams and for the injuries sustained by the three other victims. He was subsequently charged for his alleged role in the deadly barbershop shooting.
