In a tragic turn of events on March 15, 2024, 30-year-old Christina Deloach was found shot to death in a home in the Shenandoah neighborhood of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's deputies responded to a distressing call shortly before 2 p.m. at a residence on Bluewater Drive, where they discovered a grim scene.
Inside the house, Christina Deloach and her 84-year-old grandfather, Sidney Deloach, were both found deceased from multiple gunshot wounds.
The initial report came from Christina's father, 63-year-old Brent Deloach, who claimed an unknown intruder had entered the home and shot all three of them. Brent Deloach was also found at the scene with a gunshot wound to his abdomen and was transported to a local hospital for surgery.
However, as investigators delved deeper into the case, the narrative of a home invasion began to unravel. Surveillance footage from a camera at the front of the house showed no evidence of a break-in. The video did capture Christina entering the house, followed moments later by her father. The two were seen arguing in the driveway before re-entering the residence together. This evidence, combined with the lack of an intruder, led authorities to suspect Brent Deloach in the double homicide.
Following his recovery, Brent Deloach was arrested in May 2024 and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on two counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of his daughter, Christina, and his father, Sidney. He was held without bond. The case took another sad twist when, in July 2024, Brent Deloach was found unresponsive in his cell after an apparent suicide attempt. He was transported to a hospital and placed on life support, but his family later made the decision to remove it, and he subsequently passed away. An autopsy later confirmed his cause of death.
