On June 4, 2024, at approximately 4:40 p.m., Baton Rouge emergency medical services responded to a shooting incident in the 1900 block of Kansas Street. Upon arrival, they found 21-year-old James Roland Jayvante Caples with gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
