In the summer of what would have been his eighteenth year, Deonte Brown's life was tragically cut short. On July 24, 2025, in Stone Mountain, Georgia, the 17-year-old male was found with serious injuries after being shot. The incident occurred in the 600 block of Watling Lane, where DeKalb County Police officers responded to the scene. Despite efforts to save him, Brown succumbed to his injuries.
The day that should have been a celebration of his eighteenth birthday instead became the day his family and community learned of an arrest in his case. On that day, authorities announced that a 14-year-old had been taken into custody. The teenage suspect, whose name was not released due to his age, faces charges of murder and armed robbery in connection with Deonte Brown's death. The investigation surrounding the shooting is ongoing as the community grapples with the loss of a young life to gun violence.
