In a tragic turn of events on a Friday afternoon, a dispute at a DeKalb County shopping center escalated to gunfire, leaving 22-year-old Antionne Ryan dead. The incident unfolded at the Hairston Square shopping plaza on South Hairston Road.
The conflict began when a woman at the shopping center felt disrespected by a man and called her boyfriend, Antionne Ryan. Ryan, a male, arrived at the scene wearing a mask and carrying a firearm. Witnesses reported that Ryan then shot a man in his late 40s. In response, the wounded man's son, who was also present, drew his own weapon and shot Ryan multiple times.
Emergency services were called to the chaotic scene where three men, including Ryan, the man in his 40s, and his son, were found to have been shot. Ryan sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition. He later succumbed to his injuries. The other two men were treated for their wounds.
Following an investigation into the shooting, DeKalb County police determined that the man's son acted in self-defense when he shot Ryan. As a result, authorities announced that no charges would be filed in connection with Ryan's death. The case was set to be forwarded to the DeKalb County District Attorney's office for a final review.
