In the early morning hours of September 29, 2024, a tragic and violent event unfolded on Interstate 10 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, claiming the life of 22-year-old Erik Dorsey. The young man, a father of five, was driving an SUV westbound near the I-10/I-12 split around 2:50 a.m. when the vehicle was targeted by gunfire from another car. The shots caused Dorsey to be struck, leading to a loss of control of his SUV.
