Manuel Lewis Jones, a 36-year-old man, was fatally shot on October 21, 2024, in the Plum Orchard neighborhood of New Orleans. The incident occurred in the 4700 block of Bonita Drive, where he was found with multiple gunshot wounds. His life was tragically cut short in an act of violence that would lead to a swift police investigation and the apprehension of two suspects.
In the days following the shooting, the New Orleans Police Department identified and arrested two individuals in
connection with the homicide. The first suspect, 19-year-old Mekhai Pierce, was taken into custody on October 31, 2024. Following his arrest, Pierce was booked into the Orleans Justice Center.
The second suspect, 18-year-old Diamond Ebbs, was apprehended on November 8, 2024, in St. Tammany Parish. Following her arrest, she awaited extradition back to New Orleans to face charges related to the murder of Manuel Jones. Both Pierce and Ebbs have been charged with second-degree murder.
