On June 20, 2015, Daryle S. Holloway, a 46-year-old African American male and a 22-year veteran of the New Orleans Police Department, was shot and killed while transporting a prisoner to the Central Lockup. The incident occurred around 8:00 am when the handcuffed prisoner, Travis Boys, managed to maneuver his hands to the front of his body and retrieve a concealed .40 caliber handgun.
