In the warm evening of May 2, 2015, in New Orleans, Louisiana, a burst of gunfire shattered the calm, ending the life of 36-year-old Elliot Veal. The male victim sustained fatal injuries in the Central City neighborhood, a community that would soon be at the center of a homicide investigation.
