In the early hours of a Saturday morning in the Old Louisville neighborhood, tragedy struck, leaving a community in mourning. Jamal Marquette Malone, a 28-year-old Black male, was killed in a shooting on April 15, 2023. The incident, which unfolded in the 200 block of East Burnett, also left two other individuals with gunshot wounds.
When Louisville Metro Police responded to the scene, they found three victims. Jamal Malone was pronounced dead at the scene from his injuries.
A second man and a woman were rushed to UofL Hospital for treatment. Tragically, the second man later succumbed to his injuries, raising the death toll to two. The woman was taken into surgery, and her condition was not immediately disclosed.
The Louisville Metro Police Department's Homicide Unit is actively investigating the circumstances that led to the deadly shooting.
