In the Phoenix Hill neighborhood of Louisville, a life was tragically cut short on the evening of Saturday, January 13, 2024. Daniel Quindel West, a 32-year-old male, was visiting the Dosker Manor apartments when a dispute escalated into violence. A single gunshot wound ended the life of a man remembered by his family as a loving father to his two children.
Emergency responders found West at the scene and transported him to UofL Hospital, but his injuries proved fatal.
The Louisville Metro Police Department's Homicide Unit immediately began an investigation into the shooting, which occurred in the 400 block of East Muhammad Ali Boulevard. For weeks, the case remained open as detectives worked to identify a suspect in the senseless killing.
Following a tip regarding the whereabouts of a person of interest, the LMPD's Violent Crime Unit located and apprehended a suspect on January 30, 2024. The arrest took place in the 1600 block of South Floyd Street. The individual taken into custody was identified as 51-year-old Enus Delaneo Stovall.
Stovall was subsequently charged with murder in connection with the death of Daniel West. A judge entered a not guilty plea on his behalf during his arraignment. He is being held at the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections.
