On April 1, 2024, a fatal shooting occurred in the Hazelwood Neighborhood of Portland, Oregon. The victim, identified as 35-year-old Moreio Camel-Harris of Portland, was found deceased at the scene. The incident took place in the 9900 block of Southeast Stark Street, where officers from the East Precinct of the Portland Police Bureau responded to a report of two people shot.
Upon arrival, the police found Moreio Camel-Harris dead and another person with life-threatening injuries.
The injured individual was transported to a hospital for medical treatment. The Medical Examiner later determined that Moreio Camel-Harris died from a homicide by gunshot wound.
The investigation into the shooting led to the arrest of a suspect. On April 15, 2024, Damariea R. Harris, a 31-year-old resident of Portland, was taken into custody and booked into the Clark County Jail on charges of Murder in the Second Degree with a Firearm. This arrest was directly related to the homicide of Moreio Camel-Harris in the Hazelwood Neighborhood.
