On a Sunday evening in Elkhart, Indiana, tragedy struck, leaving two families mourning and a community searching for answers. On January 29, 2023, 34-year-old Alexis Jackson, a local man, lost his life in a burst of gunfire that also claimed the life of a 15-year-old boy. when police were dispatched following reports of a shooting.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered the teenage victim outside a residence, suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a hospital in South Bend but ultimately succumbed to his injuries. In a separate but connected turn of events, Alexis Jackson was brought to Elkhart General Hospital, also with gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of medical staff, he too was pronounced deceased. The Elkhart County Homicide Unit has taken the lead on the investigation into the double homicide.
