In the early hours of a Tuesday morning in Fort Wayne, Indiana, tragedy struck in the parking lot of the West Wind Apartments. On April 11, 2023, at approximately 2:23 a.m., police responded to reports of a shooting at 2107 Point West Drive. Upon arrival, they discovered two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims was 19-year-old Tyreece Corion Vachon, a Black male.
He and a female companion were rushed to a local hospital.
Despite medical efforts, Tyreece Vachon succumbed to his injuries, his death later being ruled a homicide by the Allen County Coroner's Office due to multiple gunshot wounds. His death marked the 9th homicide in Allen County for 2023. The female victim, who was also shot, survived the incident. Vachon was a former football and basketball player at North Side High School and was also known for his successful clothing brand, 'Fear None.'
The grief following Vachon's death was compounded by further violence. A memorial and balloon release held for him at McCormick Park on April 12, 2023, tragically ended in another shooting. This subsequent event resulted in one person's death and left three others injured, casting a deeper shadow over the community mourning Vachon's loss.
As of the latest reports, the investigation into Tyreece Vachon's murder is ongoing. While the Fort Wayne Police Department indicated they had a person of interest who was cooperating with investigators, no arrests have been made in connection with his death. The case remains unsolved, and authorities continue to seek information from the public.
