In the spring of 2025, the life of 21-year-old Keitron Demos Adams, a Black male from Fort Wayne, Indiana, was tragically cut short. On the night of April 13th, in the 2100 block of Hobson Road, a violent encounter left Adams with a fatal gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene, marking the 11th homicide in Allen County for the year.
The Allen County Coroner's Office later confirmed the cause of death as a homicide.
The incident that claimed Adams's life also left another man in critical condition with gunshot wounds. This second victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The circumstances that led to the shooting have not been publicly detailed by investigators. The Fort Wayne Police Department, in conjunction with the Allen County Prosecutor's Office and the Coroner's Office, immediately launched a thorough investigation into the double shooting.
The investigation quickly led to a person of interest. The following day, on April 14th, authorities apprehended 33-year-old Shontrel Bright in the 1900 block of Hobson Road, not far from where the shooting occurred. Bright was subsequently charged with the murder of Keitron Adams and the attempted murder of the second victim. At the time of this new charge, Bright was already on probation for a prior conviction of aggravated battery. In addition to the murder and attempted murder charges, he also faced a separate felony charge for an unrelated incident. The case against Shontrel Bright is currently moving through the legal system.
