In the autumn of 2022, a wave of violence cut short the life of 19-year-old Yael Edu Esparza in Fort Wayne, Indiana. On the evening of Sunday, October 2, 2022, Esparza, a Hispanic male, was operating his vehicle in the 300 block of West Wildwood Avenue when an assailant fired numerous rounds at him.
