In the early morning hours of Friday, April 28, 2023, the life of 19-year-old Markes L. Day was tragically cut short in Indianapolis. The young man, a student on the cusp of his graduation from George Washington High School, became a victim of gun violence. His body was discovered by officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department in an alley in the 2000 block of Brookside Avenue on the city's near east side just after 8:00 a.m. He had been shot to death.
