On May 29, 2023, an 18-year-old male named Christian Ogbomon from Hammond, Indiana, was fatally shot in East Chicago, Indiana. The incident occurred at approximately 12:17 AM when East Chicago Police Officers were dispatched to the 3700 block of Euclid Avenue in response to a report of a gunshot victim.
