On August 15, 2023, a fatal shooting occurred at an apartment complex on the south side of Indianapolis, resulting in the death of 29-year-old Nichole Lynn Kirksey. The incident took place around 12:30 p.m. in the 1400 block of Salisbury Lane, near Shelby Street and Carson Avenue. When officers arrived, they found Kirksey unresponsive inside the apartment and pronounced her dead at the scene.
