On the evening of August 24, 2023, a series of events unfolded on the east side of Indianapolis that left two men dead, including 21-year-old Contrealveon Tramareon Carr. The incidents, which spanned a couple of locations, are believed by investigators to be connected.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department's investigation suggests that the violence may have originated from an altercation at a gas station or convenience store located at the intersection of East 21st Street and
North Franklin Road. What transpired at this location is believed to have led to the subsequent shootings.
Around 10:30 p.m., police found 29-year-old Bryant Keith Pinner inside a vehicle in the 1200 block of North Ridgeview Drive, suffering from gunshot wounds. Pinner was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition but did not survive his injuries.
Shortly before 11 p.m., another report of a shooting led officers to the 2400 block of North Pasadena Street. There, they discovered Contrealveon Tramareon Carr, who had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene.
As the investigation into the double homicide progressed, detectives with the IMPD stated that they believe the two fatal shootings are linked. Furthermore, investigators have indicated that one of the deaths is suspected to have been an act of self-defense.
The investigation into the deaths of Contrealveon Tramareon Carr and Bryant Keith Pinner remains ongoing. As of late 2025, no public announcements have been made regarding any arrests or the identification of any suspects in connection with the shootings.
