Earl J. Nelson, commonly known as George Nelson Sr., was the owner of Pa & Ma's Backyard BBQ, a well-known soul food restaurant in Indianapolis. On June 22, 2012, Nelson was tragically shot and killed outside his restaurant, located near Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street on the northwest side of the city.
