On the afternoon of Thursday, August 31, 2023, a dispute at a Speedway gas station on the far east side of Indianapolis turned fatal, ending the life of 48-year-old Robert Lee Jones. A White male, Jones was shot outside the entrance of the gas station, located at the intersection of East 10th Street and North Mitthoefer Road. The incident unfolded shortly before 3 p.m., prompting a swift response from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
