In the early hours of September 12, 2023, the life of 18-year-old Ayvion Antoine Romel Parker was tragically cut short in a hail of gunfire at the Villa Capri Apartments in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Responding to reports of a shooting shortly before 2 a.m. in the 1800 block of Fox Point Trail, police discovered the young man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene, his death later being ruled a homicide by the Allen County Coroner's Office.
Ayvion's younger brother was also found at the scene with a gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. When police arrived, they found the younger brother crying over his brother's body.
The investigation into Ayvion's death quickly pointed towards a gang-related conflict. Detectives determined the shooting stemmed from a feud between two rival gangs, and that Ayvion was a member of one of them. The investigation, aided by cell phone evidence and witness statements, led to the identification of several suspects.
In the months that followed, a series of arrests were made. On January 11, 2024, the Fort Wayne Police Department took 18-year-old Terrance Sanders Jr. and 19-year-old Christopher Recht into custody. Later, on May 29, 2024, police arrested 21-year-old Corrion Parks and a 17-year-old male juvenile in connection with the fatal shooting. All four individuals face a string of serious charges, including murder, attempted murder, battery with a deadly weapon, and criminal gang activity. The trial for Terrance Sanders was underway in August of 2025.
