In the early morning hours of June 19, 2020, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the life of 28-year-old Kenneth Jerome Frierson II was tragically cut short. Known affectionately as 'Kenny,' he was at his home on Werling Drive when the fatal encounter occurred. Frierson was in his bedroom when Trenton D. Fye, who was 22 at the time, entered and shot him multiple times.
The sounds of gunfire alerted Frierson's mother, who was also in the house. As Fye exited her son's room, he fired at her.
She armed herself and returned fire, striking Fye in the abdomen. When emergency responders arrived, they found Kenneth Frierson deceased at the scene. Fye was later located with a gunshot wound.
An investigation into the shooting led to the arrest of Trenton D. Fye, who was subsequently charged with murder. During his trial, Fye claimed he acted in self-defense, asserting that he was provoked by the victim's 'tone.' However, a jury found him guilty of murder. For his crime, Trenton D. Fye was sentenced to 85 years in prison.
