In the winter of 2020, a sense of unease settled over a Fort Wayne neighborhood when a man was found slain inside his own home. Than Khai, a 49-year-old man, became the city's third homicide victim of the year on January 20, 2020. He was discovered in his residence, located in the 3400 block of Senate Avenue, near the intersection of Hessen Cassel and McKinnie Avenue. An autopsy would later confirm that Khai died from a gunshot wound to the neck.
