The Allen County Coroner's Office later confirmed that Lundy's death was a homicide caused by multiple gunshot wounds.

Friends and family remember him as the 'life of the party,' with a passion for dancing, fashion, and spending cherished moments with his loved ones. He had dreams of becoming a fashion designer, stylist, and business owner. Described as kind, compassionate, and generous, his death left a profound void in his community.
The investigation into Lundy's death quickly led to a suspect. Authorities from the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor's Office, and the Allen County Coroner's Office collaborated on the case. Their investigation pointed to 18-year-old Dairyon McClendon. According to court documents, McClendon and another suspect allegedly chased Lundy before McClendon fired three shots at him.
In early September 2024, the Allen County Prosecutor's Office formally charged Dairyon McClendon with murder, felony murder, and robbery in connection with Damarion Tywan Lundy's death. The case marked the 28th homicide in Allen County for the year 2024. Police asked residents in the area of the shooting to check their doorbell cameras for any potential evidence from around the time of the incident.
