In the early evening of April 5, 2018, forty-year-old Malcolm Demetrius Robinson was found deceased in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the victim of a violent homicide that shook the local community. A resident of Fort Wayne, Robinson was discovered in an alleyway situated between Berry and Wayne streets, roughly twenty feet from Harmar Street near the downtown area. Authorities were alerted to the scene around 7:00 p.m.
after receiving reports of gunfire.
Upon arrival, first responders located Robinson lying near a large rock in the alley. The Allen County Coroner’s Office later determined that he had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the chest. Witnesses in the vicinity, including a resident at the nearby East Central Towers apartment complex, reported hearing a rapid succession of four to five shots fired from what was described as a high-powered weapon. The manner of death was officially ruled a homicide, marking the thirteenth such case in Allen County for that year.
Robinson was known in his personal life as a landscaper and a drummer who enjoyed spending time with his family. He had attended North Side High School and was a member of the House of God Hebrew Pentecostal Church. Despite the immediate police response and the collection of evidence at the scene, the initial investigation did not immediately yield a named suspect. Detectives from the Fort Wayne Police Department, alongside the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office, continued to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting, but public records did not indicate any immediate arrests following the incident.
