In the late summer of 2016, a tragic series of events unfolded in Fort Wayne, Indiana, culminating in the death of 66-year-old Frank Ole Macomber. A U.S. Army veteran who served during Vietnam and a retiree from General Motors, Macomber was described by those who knew him as a kind, generous, and good-hearted man who cared deeply for his family and friends.
His life, however, would be violently cut short by his neighbor, Amber Pasztor.
On September 26, 2016, Macomber was found dead, having suffered a fatal gunshot wound. Investigations revealed that Pasztor had shot and killed him with his own gun before stealing his car. The motive behind this initial act of violence was to facilitate another crime Pasztor had planned for that day.
Following the murder of Frank Macomber, Pasztor used his vehicle to abduct her two young children, 7-year-old Liliana Hernandez and 6-year-old Rene Pasztor, from their custodial grandparents' home. This action triggered an Amber Alert as law enforcement began a desperate search for the missing children. The search ended in tragedy when the children were found dead, having been asphyxiated by their mother.
Amber Pasztor was subsequently arrested in connection with the deaths of her two children and the murder of Frank Macomber. She later admitted to the killings.
