In the late hours of a Sunday in Fort Wayne, Indiana, events tragically unfolded that would cut short the life of 17-year-old Mario Davaughn Smith Jr. On October 29, 2023, police were called to the south side of the city where they discovered the young male suffering from life-threatening injuries sustained from a shooting. Despite the efforts of medical responders, Smith was pronounced dead, his death later being ruled as a homicide by the coroner's office.
