On April 3, 2024, a fatal shooting occurred in a residential area near downtown Indianapolis, resulting in the death of 20-year-old Daniel Sabaltza. The incident took place in the 1400 block of East New York Street, a few blocks southeast of the North Split for I-65 and I-70 through downtown Indianapolis.
