In the late afternoon of Sunday, October 12, 2025, on the near west side of Indianapolis, 40-year-old Clifford Nathaniel Hudson was standing beside an SUV, engaged in a conversation with its occupants at the intersection of West 14th Street and North Tibbs Avenue. In a sudden burst of violence, an individual in another vehicle fired a weapon, striking Hudson in the head before speeding away from the scene. First responders found him in critical condition, lying in the street.
He was rushed to a local hospital where he fought for his life for two days before succumbing to his injuries.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department launched a homicide investigation into the death of the male victim, working to understand the events that led to the fatal altercation. Detectives canvassed the area for evidence and spoke with two individuals who were present during the incident; however, they were later released. At this time, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or a possible motive for the shooting, and no arrests have been made in connection with Hudson's death.
This was not the first time Clifford Hudson had been a target of violence in that same neighborhood. Just a couple of months prior, in August, he had been shot in the groin. His past also included an arrest in a warrant sweep, which had resulted in a period of incarceration and subsequent probation. As the investigation into his murder continues, police are urging anyone with information to come forward, hoping to bring justice for Hudson and his family.
