On July 18, 2024, a fatal shooting occurred in a neighborhood on the near-west side of Indianapolis. The incident took place in the 1800 block of West Morris Street, which is adjacent to a branch of the Indianapolis public library system and a couple of blocks east of the intersection of South Bellmont Avenue.
