In a tragic turn of events stemming from a traffic incident, 46-year-old Michael Eugene Stevens lost his life on a Saturday in Fairfield, Alabama. The male victim was fatally shot in what authorities have described as an act of road rage.
The incident unfolded after Stevens was involved in a car accident with another vehicle. Investigators believe that following the initial collision, the other driver pursued Stevens.
This pursuit ended in gunfire, with the suspect firing into Stevens' car. After being shot, Stevens' vehicle crashed into two parked cars. The assailant then reportedly drove by and fired additional shots.
In the days following the shooting, police identified a suspect and secured a capital murder warrant. Thirty-one-year-old Jermaine Curtis Boswell was formally charged in the shooting death of Michael Eugene Stevens. The charge was elevated to capital murder because the fatal shots were fired from a vehicle and into another occupied vehicle, which are both capital offenses under Alabama law. Boswell was subsequently taken into custody and was to be held without bond at the Jefferson County Jail.
