On October 14, 2016, 34-year-old Jimmy Frizzle was fatally shot in Fairfield, Alabama. The incident occurred in the 6700 block of Myron Massey Boulevard, near Miles College. Frizzle's nephew, Jahmal Thomas, was at a nearby park when he heard two gunshots. Rushing to the scene, Thomas discovered his uncle lying on the ground. The shooting happened just an hour and a half before a scheduled prayer vigil aimed at addressing local violence.
