On October 12, 2024, Joseph Harris, a 63-year-old African American male, was found fatally shot in Gary, Indiana. At approximately 6:04 AM, Gary Police officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 300 block of Calhoun Street. Upon arrival, they discovered Mr. Harris near the east alley, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The Lake County Coroner's Office pronounced him dead at the scene by 7:20 AM.
