On the evening of September 11, 2014, a violent incident claimed the life of 19-year-old Black male Craig Anderson in Gary, Indiana. The events unfolded at a residence located in the 2400 block of Prospect Street, a neighborhood that became the focal point of a homicide investigation later that night. Around 10:00 p.m., local law enforcement and emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the home following reports of a shooting.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Anderson suffering from fatal injuries sustained during the attack.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene shortly after the discovery. Despite the response of emergency services, Anderson was pronounced dead at the location at approximately 10:00 p.m. The coroner subsequently ruled the death a homicide, confirming that the young man had died from gunshot wounds inflicted during the incident at his residence. The Gary Police Department immediately secured the area to search for evidence and potential witnesses who might have seen or heard the events leading up to the shooting.
