On July 11, 2023, a tragic incident occurred in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois, resulting in the death of 16-year-old Jamice Wright. The incident took place around 8:15 p.m. in the 5000-block of West Washington Avenue, where Jamice became involved in an argument with a man.
During the altercation, the man pulled out a gun and shot Jamice in the eye before fleeing the scene.
Despite immediate medical attention, Jamice was taken to Loretto Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The investigation into the shooting is being conducted by Area Four detectives, but as of the latest reports, no one is currently in custody. A witness informed the police that Jamice also had a firearm at the time of the shooting.
