On the morning of August 7, 2024, Howard Williams, a 44-year-old African American man from Chicago, Illinois, was fatally shot in the city's East Garfield Park neighborhood. At approximately 9:25 a.m., Chicago police officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 3100 block of West Madison Street. Upon arrival, they discovered Howard Williams suffering from gunshot wounds to his chest and back. He was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
