On January 10, 2023, 18-year-old Akhir Muhammad was fatally shot in an attempted robbery at a Shell gas station located at 5005 Snapfinger Woods Drive in Decatur, Georgia. The incident occurred shortly before 6:00 p.m. when Muhammad was leaving the gas station. DeKalb County Police responded to a report of shots fired and found Muhammad shot to death in the parking lot between the Shell Food Mart and a nearby strip mall.
