In the late hours of February 18, 2023, a violent encounter at a Motel 6 in Columbus, Georgia, claimed the life of 19-year-old Michael Rochnet Carter Jr., a Black male. The tragic event also resulted in the death of his father, 54-year-old Michael Rochnet Carter Sr., who was found deceased at the scene alongside his son. Both men had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
