In the late hours of a spring evening in Macon, Georgia, the life of 35-year-old Demorrio Maurice Faulk, a Black male, was irrevocably altered. On May 2, 2023, while at a gathering on Churchill Street, an unknown assailant fired multiple shots into the crowd just before midnight. The hail of bullets struck Faulk and another man. Both were rushed to a local hospital for medical attention.
While the second victim, a 51-year-old man, was in stable condition, Faulk’s injuries were far more severe. He had sustained a gunshot wound to the head and was listed in critical condition.
For two days, Faulk fought for his life, but his injuries proved to be insurmountable. On the afternoon of May 4, 2023, he succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced deceased. The Bibb County Sheriff's Office has been actively investigating the shooting, but details about the circumstances leading up to the incident remain scarce. To date, no information about a suspect or suspects has been released to the public, and no arrests have been made in connection with the homicide. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward to assist in bringing closure to Faulk's family and the community.
